Choose the Softness and Safety of Artificial Grass for Playgrounds

Providing a lush play surface year round that is soft, clean and safe to play on, NexGen Lawns’ synthetic grass for playgrounds is the most cost effective way to keep children safe. It’s what makes it the best artificial grass under swing sets and other high-fall areas.

Additionally, with a padded base under the turf designed for quick drainage, your play space can be dry and ready to use in as little as 15 minutes after it rains, unlike natural grass, dirt or mulch. Since synthetic grass is free of mud, it prevents formation of puddles or slippery areas after showers or a simple hose down. No slippery surfaces translate into a low probability of accidents or falls. When it comes to children’s spaces, safety is a priority. Low risk of slippage due to the absence of wet patches is one of the crucial advantages of choosing fake grass play turfs over those made of real grass.

Our artificial grass for playgrounds is engineered to use a non rubber infill which eliminates the possibility of dragging back black rubber pieces inside in children’s clothes or hair.

With no mowing, watering, raking mulch back in place or rubber fly out, NexGen Lawns synthetic playground grass is the premier option for playgrounds and play areas.

Our artificial grass for playgrounds accommodates a variety of infills to meet different ASTM fall-height standards. We also offer a variety of foam pads to go underneath the synthetic grass.

Frequently Asked Questions about Artificial Grass for Playgrounds

What is the life expectancy of artificial grass in a playground setting?

Artificial playground grass will last anywhere from 8 to 20 years, depending on how much use it gets.

Will the artificial grass fade in the sun?

Yes, but barely. It will only fade about 2 shades of pantone™ colors every 10 years. UV additives come mixed into our yarn resins so color fade will be minimal.

Is it difficult to repair or replace areas of the artificial grass?

No, it’s easy to patch, this is something you can do yourself. In case you do need to repair the playground grass, be sure to save any leftover scraps of grass after installation.

Can Synthetic Grass meet fall-height specifications?

Yes, NexGen Lawns in conjunction with crumb-rubber infill and/or padding can meet most fall-height standards.

Is synthetic grass warmer than my natural lawn?

Yes, of course our synthetic grass doesn’t have the natural cooling capacity of natural grass. There’s always a trade-off for the benefits such as no mowing, no watering, no weeding, no chemical applications, easier dog clean up, no mud, etc. The only real trade-off is that the surface of synthetic grass will be warmer than natural grass. But, it’s not so hot that you or your pets can’t be on the surface on hot days with a few precautions. We recommend having at least one portion of your lawn space shaded for instant relief. If the temperature gets hot, it’s always nice to have a little relief area until it cools down again. Also, you can spray the synthetic grass with water right before you walk or play on a really hot day. Additionally, you can always wear shoes.

Another way to lower heat on synthetic grass is adding our Organafill Natural Infill material to the grass. These granules give a natural cooling effect to the grass, lowering surface temperature. Many people find that the extra heat doesn’t bother them as long as they keep moving. But, even if these precautions are not exercised, hot weather has not kept people or pets off of synthetic grass. We have thousands of installations nationwide; including the Arizona desert. Complaints about surface temperature are extremely rare, but we understand people have different sensitivity levels. We just want our customers to be aware that there is a slight sacrifice to overcome the increased surface temperature, but it shouldn’t stop you from enjoying your lawn for years to come…even on hot days!

Who Can Benefit from Artificial Grass for Playgrounds?

Homeowners, schools, playgrounds, parks, and municipalities can all benefit from an artificial grass play area. It’s not only designed to withstand high traffic but is also easy to maintain. Moreover, with its in-built rapid flow drainage system, it can be kept dry year-round – in as little as a few minutes after a shower as well as a clean-up. Since there is no mud, it won’t create puddles of water or mucky, slippery patches after a rain, in stark contrast to natural grass lawns. Therefore it reduces the risk of falls and slips, offering safety, which is a primary requirement for any type of children’s space.
